Transportation
In general, Montevideo is a safe city. If you don't stay within walking distance to the congress, you can use Uber, taxi or public transportation. The cost of the local bus ticket is 56 Uruguayan pesos. There is a transportation card, the STM, which is free and can be obtained with just an identity document such as a passport, and reduces the price of the ticket, as well as allowing you to make multi-section trips, such as the 2-hour one, which is valid for all journeys within two hours. In addition, it is a good way of not using cash, since it is prepaid. For more information, see here: https://montevideo.gub.
